I think there are elements of an earlier (possibly 20s) dress which have been cleverly adapted in the 1930s - so whilst not in it’s original form is correct for the later decade
I was going to change the buttons for something fun but left these as appear original

1970s vintage Ann Reeves knit maxi dress with quilted border accents snakeskin heels I think there are elementsSoft nice quality acrylic knit material in black, so warm but not too thick, with quilted blockprint patterned border to hem of skirt and sleeves. This is also echoed by the yoke trim to the bodice. shoulder darts give soft shape into the sleeve head and lead into belled sleeves. Flattering shape, with slightly high waist into softly gathered flared maxi skirt. A designer who I wish I knew more about but have never managed to find out much beyond the
